    Led by Masakazu Akiyama, who creates various products, such as organically dying cloths in indigo,a fade of royal purple, using Koishimaru (a type of silkworm), and creating other kimono related products, he runs a studio with other creators. Following Japanese tradition of dying products in indigo (aizome) through a thorough, organic process of fermenting materials, he has collaborated in dying towels produced at Oboro Towel and gauzes. Other than the beautiful indigo color, he has also taken into consideration about medical purposes, preventing bug bites, deodorization, moisturizing, and strengthening the cloth for all the face towels he has worked with. A true work of art, a first class towel.

  • Bucket – Bench – Table

    Since 1985, Nichinan Furniture Studio has established its headquarters in Nichinan-shi in Miyazaki Prefecture, and worked with numerical control and 3D machining with special wooden products. Miyazaki prefecture is known for its high produce of Obi Sugi, a type of Japanese cedar. At Nichinan Furniture Studio, they have used this local cedar and have created first-class wooden buckets, benches and tables, which provide high performances as bathing tools.

    Fujinokuchi Latan Crafts Studio

    Established in 1937 at Kobayashi-shi, Miyazaki prefecture.
    Won the “Modern Crafts” award in 1997, and “Medal of Yellow Ribbon in 2007. This studio is known as the only place for crafting latan products in Kyushu area, and this time, they have crafted latan products for Oyunomiya, using its advantages of strength, sensitivity, and the handmade quality. With the high crafting technique, they have created a first-class latan basket for storing clothes.

    Riken Mineral Research Center

    In 2004, Riken Mineral Research Center started as a mineral water factory in the vast nature of Ebino-shi, Miyazaki Prefecture. They have gathered the high quality groundwater produced in the nature, and have produced mineral drinking water with their focus on quality and safety. They use super silica water, a high quality mineral water that matches perfectly with Oyunomiya.

    During 1992 to 2005, he have practiced his crafting skills at Seto Akazu Gamamoto Kasen Toen (Kasama) and in Kazama Gamamoto Kosangama (Miyazaki prefecture), and in 2005, established his own crafting studio in Takazaki-cho, Kitamoro Kata Region, Miyazaki prefecture. He has crafted ice bowls in usumoegi (light green color), and has focused on the comfort, aesthetic and practicality of his products. Afterwards, he carefully glazes his ceramic products with a beige paste, and maintains the original material’s color. The beauty of his products is brought out over the years, and his techniques become more and more visual.

    Gallery Urushi-ya

    Born in Nobeoka, Miyazaki prefecture.
    While working as a producer, he self taught the philosophy of “urushi”, and his artwork appeared in one of the well known household magazines “Besatsu Katei Gaho” in the “Beautiful Japanese Ceramic” section.
    In 2001, the studio moved its place to Aya, and was re-named as Gallery Urushi-ya.
    The original bamboo cup uses a type of bamboo called Mousouchiku, which is grown in the Aya area. The cups have many layers of linen, lacquer and sanded down numerous times. By repeating these processes, the heat is kept within the cup, and when drinking something on the rocks, the ice does not melt so easily.

    Opened the studio back in 2005, In 2010, the studio took part in group exhibitions at Takashimaya Yokohama, and Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi in 2011. These spoons are all handcrafted and designed, as well as the glaze used on the spoons is handmade. These beautiful spoons can be found in stores at Miyazaki, Kagoshima and Shizuoka
    For the spoon for enjoying shaved ice, a normal spoon for eating noodles have been specially designed.

    Located in Toshiro-shi, Miyazaki prefecture, Sunthera focuses mainly on using Obisugi (a type of pine), and crafts school partitions, interiors, frame for wooden doors, order made furniture, and other wooden novelty crafts. This time around specifically for Oyunoya, they have created a tray that carries the warm characteristics of the Miyazaki weather. The wood used for the tray is, as usual, Obisugi, which is also used for boats, leaving it high on water resistance, light on the weight and very sturdy. The Miyazaki prefectural governor also took this one of a kind tray as a gift to Korea.

    A weight made by a special stone that can only be found in the vast nature of Takachihonomine mountain area. When silicon dioxide is crystalized, it becomes quartz. This specific stone used for the weight also carries high level of silicon dioxide, leaving a hint of the quartz beauty. This time, at Oyunoya we use this stone as a weight for calligraphy, creating a perfect balance between tradition and beauty.

    Shaved ice made by ripe Hyuganatsu (a type of Japanese citrus fruit), and organic mineral water from the Kirishima Hills. A perfect dish for after taking a bath and cooling down your body.
